Have you ever had a character or situation in a movie speak to you in a language that no critique or review column could catch? It happens to me quite often. It doesnβt have to be the main character or plot point; it could be anything in the movie that resonates and hits the right chord. At its core, cinema is all about characters and their actions β a beautiful, cohesive picture nuanced by sound design, cinematography and music.
Perhaps the character closest to my heart is Clementine Kruczynski from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind because she feels like a reflection. Every time I watch this movie, I discover something more in and about her, only because Iβm looking for it. She is also why I stumbled uponΒ Character Biopsies, a beautiful Insta that deconstructs and analyses fictional characters, mainly from Hindi films.
Kalpak explores the human side of these characters, and though he doesnβt post often, there are over a hundred posts for you to catch up on. Enjoy.
Yours,
