Did you fly paper planes as a kid and dream of piloting a real aeroplane someday? Me too!Â
If like me, you’re fascinated by these marvellous flying tin pots, let me introduce you to GeoFS, a browser-based flight simulator that feels like, well, (I think) the real thing. (Pilots in the house, if it isn’t, don’t tell me). Simulator controls allow you to change the aircraft’s direction, speed, angle and altitude. You can even fly at night or in bad weather conditions. If you prefer you’re flying mobile, there’s an app too.
Developed by Xavier Tassin, GeoFS has stunning simulations of popular aircraft like the Airbus A380, Cessna 172, Concorde and even the iconic Piper Cub. There are plenty of options to choose from, all of them loads of fun.
There’s a thriving community of aircraft developers on GeoFS, and you can fly one of their creations. The quality of these aircraft varies radically from creator to creator, though. A paid subscription to GeoFS comes with amazing HD graphics, which you can experience with a one-day free HD trial.
Something to do this weekend, then – log in and fly off to the Grand Canyon or Mount Everest or my favourite, Uluru.
