In my opinion, one of the best, worst things that happened with the advancement of cell phone technology is the screen time feature.
The feature that tracks our screen time, gives us options to moderate it and holds up a starkly accurate image of our imprisonment within the darkest recesses of the digital age (okay, maybe that’s just me).
I check my screen time a lot, and I’m ashamed to share the data with you. I think that should help you guess what it’s like.
I’ve wanted to reduce my screen time for AGES, but none of my methods seems to work. For example, I deactivated my Facebook account (eight months ago), and my Instagram account (almost three months ago), hoping, for one, that this would keep me away from the screen.Â
But alas. I merely replaced these platforms with Reddit and Youtube – my screen time remained as high as it always was.Â
So I’ve decided to try another method. Watching documentaries. I know that sounds counter-productive, but hear me out.Â
Since my brain seems to be unable to wrench itself away from screens, isn’t it better to present it with an incisive look into the dark sides of the chocolate industry or an exploration of busking in New York City than to keep feeding it reels of strangers trying on glittery lip glosses?
As a first step, at least?Â
I don’t know, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Keep you updated.
P.S. Recommend Just One Thing to the people in your life you struggle with screen time regulation. Browsing JOT archives > burrowing into a Reddit hole about serial killers who chopped off their victims’ ears.Â
