I’ve been an introvert all my life and had to constantly devise coping mechanisms to stay active in my social circles. So this one is for all my fellow shrinking violets; I’m giving away one of my much-hoarded secrets – how to effortlessly involve yourself in a conversation.
Plus, if you’re one of those “Did you know…?” facts kind of people, this post is definitely for you. Yeah, the Snapple caps-thingy type facts. Not only are they good conversation starters, but they also satisfy your appetite for strange, random, informative and fun tidbits.
In the internet age, access to such facts is relatively easy, whether you are glued to Instagram 24X7 or have a more methodical approach to verifying your sources. There’s a solution for everything.
As for me, my eyesight is not that reliable (Karina will agree); listening, though, is my superpower. It’s different from hearing, by the way. My mind palace (hello Hannibal) has a special shelf of stockpiled fun facts, and I have an annoying habit of falling down rabbit holes of strange happenings and facts. The win-win for me, though, is learning while listening.
As Albert Einstein rightly stated, “Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” And to do that in this fast-paced life, we need a one-stop shop ready to be a unique mix of research-based life hacks, science and technology and readily broken down for us.
Well, this is not it. I also have something that will specifically tickle the curiosity bones of the Bournvita quiz contest and trivia night fans. A podcast for your thirst for trivia knowledge, information and commentary. And a place to help you look at an argument from all possible perspectives with a sprinkling of concision, intelligence, and wit.
Go on, you beautiful wallflowers; recharge your knowledge batteries before your next social mountain. And, let me know what you think of my reccos. If you have an idea, I may even use it in my next book – 101 Ways for Introverts to Socialize.
Yours,
Nikita
