Fridays are the perfect day to ‘discover’ an artist who inspires, no? Then you have all weekend to go deep into the bowels of the Internet looking for obscure nuggets of information that make them special to you.
I discovered Nate Otto quite like this a couple of years ago. A post on a company’s blog about their new workplace mural took me down a rabbit hole that had Nate’s beautifully dense cityscapes at the end of it. Deliciously intricate and uncomplicated all at once. So much to unpack, yet so intimately familiar to any big city dweller. In his own words, Nate’s work occupies its own lane somewhere in between the worlds of folk art, street art, lowbrow art, and contemporary fine art. Essentially whateverNatewantstodo!
Have a great weekend, y’all.
