Hello there,
I know you're not too eager to be sitting at your desks, poring over work on this, the best of all days. I know I'm not.
And that's why I'm introducing you to a website truly representative of the original idea of the internet: find arcane shit that may or may not be relevant, interesting or funny but exists nevertheless.
Without further ado, I give you The Useless Web
Developed by Tim Holman 10 years ago, this site does just one thing: take you to a different site each time you click on the bright pink button on its homepage.
Many of the websites that The Useless Web takes you to were built by Tim Holman himself, serving as showcases for his interests and experiments. Tiny games, keyboard speed tests, just a page of corn dogs floating down your screen in perpetuity... The Useless Web will take you on a wild ride of some of the most *literally* useless websites that Tim has made or found. One of my favourites (and quite a useful one, at that) is this one that lets you find books you may not know you need. And for those times when you fancy yourself an expressionist painter, this is where you need to go.
At the beginning, all The Useless Web had was a button to point you to other websites. A little while ago, though, Tim started reaching out to the developers of other sites he featured in The Useless Web to include their origin stories.
I hope you find yourself on The Useless Web on your next break. And if you're still on The Useless Web by the time Monday rolls around, here's a very relevant link for you to share with Monday. And there may be some people who deserve this on a Monday. Or any other day for that matter.
Go ahead. Be useless. TGIF.
Baaa.
