I'll confess - before I joined Hachi Bee in 2022, newsletters weren't really on my radar. But then I encountered The Kable and woke up to the potential of the medium.
A few months later, we started this newsletter, and life has never been the same!
While The Kable and Just One Thing are Very Real newsletters, there are some others that only exist in the realm of my imagination (or somewhere on the internet because somebody else has already thought of and executed the idea). Here are some examples:
1. A newsletter that features gift ideas for specific personality types.
2. A newsletter that chronicles dying professions around the world.
3. A newsletter with suggestions for classroom activities based on Open Source materials from museums.
4. A newsletter that collates dishes and recipes made from "throwaway" parts of foods (think stems, husks, rinds, etc.) from all over the world.
5. A newsletter for people who want to grow urban vegetable gardens in metro cities in the Indian subcontinent.
6. A newsletter that documents the steeply declining quality of state-funded statues in Kolkata.
7. A newsletter that spotlights lullabies from various cultures.
Let me know if any of these sound interesting to you (not that I will actually take action to start one, but still).
Meanwhile, check out today's thing: Digest, a tool that helps you regulate your time on the Internet by sending you a daily newsletter featuring new content from the sources you select.Â
Basically, you get everything you want from the internet in the form of a newsletter without all the extra nonsense. Pretty neat, right?Â
P.S. Spread the word about Just One Thing and prevent newsletter writing from becoming a dying profession. Come on now.Â
I'm pretty sure 4 and 5 exist! In other formats, at least.
Also, you really enjoy lists, huh? 😅
Very useful
