π An old-school way of syncing with the cloud
#381 | Fluffy ones and grey ones and feathery ones and stormy ones
Do you take more cloud pics than the average chap with a smartphone? Then consider joining the Cloud Appreciation Society, a community of people who live with their heads in the clouds.
The website is quite charming with courses, resources and galleries dedicated to identifying, capturing and plain going ππ at all things cloud. There are active forums, cloud poetry collections and all sorts of informative and enthusiastic cloud miscellany.Β
Itβs not all cutesy though. Some of these cloud lovers are citizen scientists who mean business. They spotted a hitherto unknown cloud and worked with the Royal Meteorological Society to classify it as a new formation β the first to be identified in more than 50 years!
You can go appreciate clouds for free, but those who take it more cirrus-ly (hah!) can buy a membership to get a cloud a day by email, and all sorts of merch.
I was recently delighted to see this society make an appearance on one of my favourite shows - Taskmaster. If you havenβt seen Taskmaster, thatβs another Thing entirely which I'll write about with glee but nonetheless, take a look at this cloudy cameo here (even though itβs roundly mocked by the Philistines on the show).
This stuff is on another stratus altogether, so go check it out so we can all be cumulo-tively excited about it.
