# 331 | Galactic treasures far far away
I've thoroughly surprised myself. I finally caved to the constant pestering from one of my close friends and entered into the world of Star Wars trying to navigate this galaxy far, far away.
Who knew there were so many movies and series in this franchise? I first thought I could breeze through them, but there's just an endless buffet of Jedi, Sith and droids.
I started with the OG trilogy from Karina's bachpan and all I could say was, May the Force be with me! "Is it just me?" I asked my friend, "or does Darth Vader need a strepsils? He would be far more intimidating if he didn't sound like he's got a sore throat!" Said friend went full Sith Lord on me.
Incidentally, what was Lucas thinking - Vader = Father, such a but obv plot point!
Then there's Princess Leia and her distress calls, Obi-Wan and his motivational Ted Talks, and Yoda and his hilarious reverse talk. "Do or do not; there is no try." I did that for a day and almost got kicked out of Starbucks.
Despite my snarky asides, I must admit, I'm hooked - the adventure, the lore, lightsabers, droids, space battles, and the stupid love story (not so much) have grown on me. So, naturally, after watching all the movies and binge-ing all the series, I sank down the rabbit hole of Star Wars on the Internet to emerge on the other side a full-fledged aficionado. (No, Dolly, don't you dare burst my bubble!)
My revels pointed me to several gems that would make any Star Wars fan geek out. One of them Star Wars Uncut, a fan-made project that split the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope movie into 15-second segments and invited fans from all over the galaxy to recreate these segments in their unique styles.
Apart from being a testament to the passion and creativity of the Star Wars fan community, it's pure comedy gold. As for me, I am thrilled I can keep up with my friend's Star Wars references. I can hold forth on the Force, the Millennium Falcon, and everything in between.
And I excel at ordering coffee Yoda-style. "One tall latte, extra foam, I would like."
