Hi there,
To the Indian GenZ or millennials reading this: do you remember those Vikas story books that were around when we were kids? Single page stories with illustrations and one-line “morals” for every tale. “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Or “don’t count your chickens before they hatch”. I miss how simple that shit was.
If only real life was like that.
You’re likely to find the grown-up versions of these “life lessons” in the discipline of philosophy. But god knows philosophers don’t make it easy. Ask Jacques Derrida why he couldn’t just write in English, and you’re unlikely to get a satisfying answer (not because he’s dead, but because he’s abstruse).
Philosophers really make you work for it, and sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the effort. In such lazy times, Philosophy Bro does the work for me. Check it out. Best case, you may finally understand what Peter Singer or Heidegger have been going on about. Worst case, at least you’ll have a good laugh.
