I was always the nerdy kid, never the arty kid. I'd never seriously engaged with the visual arts because they'd always seemed too out of my reach.
And because life is a cosmic joke:
1. I worked as an arts manager, interacting with artists on the regular for two years
2. I now work in a graphic design studio
These unexpected experiences have made me more equipped to interact with art around me. And it goes without saying that cool internet finds have helped the process along.
And because sharing is caring, let me introduce you to my favourite.
Britain's Tate Museum has a website exclusively for kids, which make even the most abstract of artists accessible.
Here's a video on Surrealism which really helped me understand what Dali was on. Which you can follow up with an activity pack to create your own surreal story.
Or if that's not your scene, you can make your own street art.
Or take a quiz to determine which arty snack you should eat.
Or go into an imaginary, dystopian, future where robots make art, but human creativity is not easy to do away with (haha so bizarre, as if this could ever happen).
This is just so useful...shall save this one for eternity!
