Hey there,
Do you like the news? I do. And I love finding new sources for news, especially from niches otherwise unexplored. And my day job for the past two years has involved finding such news sources.
Which is how I happened upon today's Thing: The Continent.
The Continent is a weekly magazine that calls itself a newspaper, but unlike newspapers of yore, they don't really have a print edition. Designed originally for sharing on WhatsApp and Signal, The Continent is a weekly PDF with some of the most original reporting from around Africa. They also have a Substack that sends out individual articles by email if that's what you prefer.
The quality of their writing and the depth of their reporting both make The Continent a force to be reckoned with. I found out about them with their 11th issue in the early days of the pandemic and have been a dedicated reader ever since.
If news from and about Africa is your cuppa coffee, then The Continent is where it is served the best.
