Unlike my fellow jOtters I haven't been banking my things for a few months now.
But on days like today, my messed up schedule makes me ever so grateful.
The Internet is at once the most bizarre and wonderful thing humans have ever conjured.
But on days like today, I wish it never existed.
The Internet is a vile cesspool of hate and misinformation.
But on days like today, especially on days like today, I am grateful it exists.
Because without the Internet, fascist tyrants would be benign saviours of democratic values, and police states would be blameless victims of the very war crimes they perpetrate.
There are no happy places on the Internet for me today.
Not one.
So I will point you again to something Dolly wrote about a couple of months ago - a project by Nicky Case that helps you make sense of misinformation and lets you figure out why groups of people act the way they do.
Hold your loves close today. Be kind to everyone else. It's all you can do.
