#335 | Getting up close with adventure

Hey there,

Did you know cheesy, tacky Filipino-US joint movie productions were a thing? Neither did I. Until I landed on today's thing, Backyard Asia, the most awesome blog dedicated to weird, obscure, little-known films from Asia.

As the blog says in its purpose statement, it was meant to be a destination for people to discover Asian cinema that isn't kung fu or Korean pop or J-horror or anime or manga. And boy, does it live up to that aim!

Even though it feels like the blog isn't alive anymore, the existing archive is well worth your time. If you're geographically inclined, the blog even has tags to view movies by country of origin, which includes Bollywood (3 movies) and (I didn't even know the Pakistani movie industry was called this) Lollywood. The Lollywood listing even has what might just be the greatest ecozombiehorror movie ever made, Zibahkhana. The best part is that the Zibahkhana page actually introduced me to what seems to be an even better Pakistani horror movie.

Anyway, go ahead, browse and watch to your heart's content.
