Hi hi,
A well-spent weekend for me comprises at least three of five things - hibernation, an unhealthy meal, quality time with loved ones, an overdue errand ticked off and one good piece of media.
Like many of my peers, I've often found myself scrolling through OTT platforms with a plate of food in my hand and had it gone cold by the time something suitable came up.
Samaritans recommend great stuff to me all the time, and I tell them I'll add it to the list. This list does not exist. The names of these pieces of media swim between my ears like goldfish in an aquarium tunnel and disappear into the ether. Still, I am optimistic that this list will manifest in the future.
A bunch of my colleagues have resorted to Google Sheets to keep track of reccos and find the elusive, perfect watch. One that checks all their requirements and fits the mood of the day.
Bad TV has its moments. Sometimes I want to watch Spy Kids in a dark room with only the gods and my ancestors as judge and witnesses. But more often than not, I want my only watch of the week to not be poorly written, directed, or acted.
That is where A Good Movie To Watch comes in. Â
This gem of a site puts together little-known but positively received films from popular OTT platforms and arranges them by genre, mood, language.. you get the gist.
The films, of course, are largely occidental, and I'm not going to find Sairat on this list any time soon. But for a person like me, who decides what to watch based on whimsy and whether mercury is in retrograde, it's a great tool to make sure I don't end up cribbing about wasted time on a Sunday night.
I know what I will watch this weekend, will you?
Analina
Please recommend films - I'll add them to the list 😉
