Man, I love seeing people be enthusiastic and happy about doing something they love, even if I have no interest in the activity itself. Have you ever caught yourself smiling delightedly as somebody excitedly tells you about their interest in erratic time signature changes in progressive rock or their progress in poi spinning? Today’s Thing is about that second-hand joy, coupled with a very nice parasocial relationship I have with one Youtuber fellow who lives in New York.
Welcome to Pro Home Cooks run by a guy who loves cooking and food SO MUCH?! The whole point of his channel is to be more connected with the food you cook at home and to be curious about how much you can do in your kitchen while balancing it with the other demands of life. I started watching him during the lockdown, which is when I first started cooking, and I learnt a lot from the guy.
He’s got loads of videos to make everyday cooking easier and fun.
He’s also clearly SO INTERESTED IN FOOD that he explores it in a million different ways.
Like this series in which he made sandwiches from around the world, including a pretty amazing-looking vada pao. Guys, he even made the pao and the sev and the dried garlic chutney from scratch ðŸ˜
He even set up his own homestead and now gets hands-on with every aspect of food - from growing it to harvesting chickens to composting his waste to setting up irrigation systems. I mean, what a compelling guy?? I’m fascinated.
Now, here’s why I’m extra fond of him. When he started his channel a decade ago, it featured him and his brother being HIGHHHHH and goofy and slightly ridiculous while experimenting with food and noodling around in the kitchen.Â
Now they’re all grown up with families, quite successful, and extremely wholesome in how their passion for food has kept going all this time. They’re so cute! I wanna be their friend. I wanna cook with them. I want nice, happy things for them.Â

Go watch if you like cooking and food, or if you like seeing nice people be very into the things they are into.Â
